Prince of Persia – The Movie!

I’ve been a huge fan of Prince of Persia, ever since I set eyes on the first game (back in the late 80′s). And now, after two decades, this epic tale is coming to the silver screen, Hollywood style!

Jordan Mechner wrote the screenplay, while Jerry Bruckheimer’s directing the movie, with a buffed-up Jake Gyllenhaal’s prancing about as the Prince (who, finally has a name – Dastan – meaning trickster in Persian).

The movie is based on the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time video-game. However, from the videos released till date, the Prince looks more like the one from Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (way cooler dude).

Hmm… Wonder how much and what kind of platforming Jake had to perform.

Nice to see a Hollywood heavy-weight directing the movie. At least there’s a chance of a successful outcome, unlike results like Far Cry (the new movie by Uwe Boll).

Speaking of Uwe Boll, not many know that back in 2006, he challenged five of his harshest critics to a boxing match! To qualify, critics had to have written two extremely negative reviews about Boll, in the previous year.

The fights took took place in Spain and Vancouver, and Boll won all five matches!

Here’s a video of one of the matches:

What a way to settle scores!

Put in too much of a movie in a game or put in too much of game-play footage in a movie and you end up with something bad….in a really bad sense…
